Bywong Art and Craft is a home based air conditioned studio. The studio is situated in the heart of a vineyard with an incredible rural outlook and plenty of free parking. Distance travel by car is approximately 25 to 30 minutes from Canberra CBD, 20 minutes from Queanbeyan and 8 minutes from Bungendore.
Instructors at Bywong Art and Craft are experienced in their Art forms, some achieving numerous awards which include Grand Championships in local and interstate shows and exhibitions. We have instructors with over 25 years teaching experience. Our instructors are generous in sharing their knowledge, experience, techniques and expertise.
The founder of Bywong Art and Craft, Julie, has a wealth of experience across many arts, crafts and hobbies. Juliana or Julie to many, started her craft journey around age 8 making cut out paper dress up dolls. Julie progessed to adorning plastic dolls in her early teens, when illness confined her to a hospital bed. Julie has completed a Diploma in Teaching Adult Education and has completed study at the Australian National University and University of Canberra. Julie taught in a vocational field for over 25 years. Her teaching included Food Safety HACCP systems, Occupational Health and Safety as well as first Aid Instructor and Specialist Cake decorating teacher to Bakery students.
Julie is well aware of the impact of life's experiences and how those experiences can impact on a person's life. Whether it's bereavement, bullying, illness, loneliness or anxiety, Julie believes that Art, Craft and Hobbies can provide enjoyment and can help improve personal welllbeing and self esteem. She also understands that individuals like to add new experiences to their leisure time. This may be as a one off experience or possibly to explore a new hobby.
Julie has been a committee member and past President of the ACT Cake Decorators Assn Inc. She has judged many shows, both locally and nationally. Julie loves to share her skills and has entered many shows and exhibitions. She has won numerous awards which include many Grand Championships. Champion awards have been for Ceramics Portrait sculpting, Original Art dolls, Vinyl dolls, Knitting, Sewing and Cake Decorating, Felting plus pavilion exhibits for home grown produce.
Most recent achievements are her works featured in Australian magazines.
Her love of creativity and the encouragement and support of her husband has made Bywong Art and Craft a reality.
Bywong Art and Craft aims to provide fixed and flexible workshops. Workshops can also be tailor made for a special event.
Oooops nearly forgot to tell you, there is a gazebo just metres from the studio where you could meet Boris and enjoy a cuppa or refreshing drink.
